I am trying out some new podcasting services, and here it my first try. This service is called podbean. It is free (which I like) and it seems easy to use.

dang
Well, I was on my way home the other day, and I just so happened to run into somebody new. Quite Literally.
About four cars up these two kids ran out into the road, and caused someone to slam on their brakes. Well, then the next three cars slammed on their brakes, and mathematically the reaction times will inevitably get a little more delayed with each person. Unfortunately the person in front of me had a much newer vehicle, with much better brakes. When they hit it, they stopped on a dime. My truck, as much as I love it, doesn't quite stop on a dime. I am not even sure it stops on a quarter.
The thing that surprised me most was that the officer (when he arrived almost 2 hours later) gave me a ticket. I guess that the circumstances don't matter that much, if you are the unfortunate guy in the back, you will get blamed.
There isn't that much damage to either vehicle, and we are will an insurance company that has accident forgiveness (thank you to my wife for signing us up for that). So, it isn't going to hurt us that bad. Other than the fact that I still have to pay this ticket and my truck is dinged up now. Oh Well.
Here is another picture, from a different view.

My Wife's Video
My wife just finished making this video, so I thought that I would share it with you. She might have something more to say about it, so this post may change, but I wanted to get it up on the internet for all to see.
For some reason a little bit of the quality was lost when we uploaded it to Google Video. I have never had that happen before, but it seems to have happened this time. The first time I uploaded it, the entire thing didn't upload. Oh well, I hope you enjoy this, she did a great job on it.

For Sandy
"The way to deeper knowledge of God
is through the lonely valleys of soul poverty
and abnegation of all things."
~A.W. Tozer
Remember that you serve a God who sees. Draw close to Him, and He will draw very close to you.

pure mathematics is...
"Pure mathematics is, in its way,
the poetry of logical ideas."
~Albert Einstein
I love this quote. Anybody that can make it past the basics in mathematics and get to the really interesting stuff, has the opportunity to see it in this poetic kind of way.
I would liken it to looking very closely at a painting. When you are really close to it, and all you see is a couple of brush strokes, and your eyes are sort of crossed because your nose is up against the painting, then it usually isn't a brilliant piece of art. But as you draw back, and bring more and more of the picture into view, you suddenly begin to see this brilliant painting. (And for many, you begin to see the artist through the painting.)

trust
[Isaiah, speaking to God in praise]
"You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in You."
Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
You may find that those times in your life that were without peace, without rest, were not because of a lacking on God's part to grant peace. Instead these times may be linked to your own lack of steadfastness of mind.
Trusting in God is not a one-time thing. You don't choose to trust God at salvation, then never have to make that choice again. Rather, Salvation marks the beginning of a life that is devoted to trusting God. And this choice to continue to trust God is a moment by moment choice. It needs to be made again and again.
It is in our darkest hours that we are the most in need of peace that we need to keep our minds steadfast and trusting in God.

Blog Suggestion
Found a good blog a few days ago that I would like to suggest. It is called Intellectuelle.
One of the authors has another blog that I have been reading for a long time.
I have been reading this new one for a few days now, and I have really enjoyed it. I have even learned a thing or two. I found it because I was mentioned there, and like any good blogger, I always check my stats to see where my visitors are coming from.
Anyway, I think that these authors have something good to say, and I wanted to suggest them. So often the blogs that are out there are so full of people just spouting their opinion, that when you find someone saying something with a little intelligence, it really stands out.

confused and afraid
Gmail is never down. (At least not when I have been trying to access it.) But it is down today. I don't know what to do with myself. I haven't been able to access my Gmail account for most of the day.
What if there is something important? What if there is a life or death situation waiting for me in my e-mail? I need to know!
On a serious note: Do you find it to be funny how much we have come to rely on new technologies? Things like e-mail and cell phones, which weren't around all that long ago, and now I go without one of them and I don't feel like I can function.
I mean really, how did we survive 20 years ago? It was like the stone-age. It used to be that if you were out and about, there was no way anyone was going to find you until you made it back home. Now we are constantly in touch with others. We are literally just a few button pushes away. Sometimes I feel like I can't get away from anyone even if I wanted to.
Oh well, I hope that Google gets this thing taken care of (especially since I was just boasting about them a couple of days ago). My life has come to a stand still until I can check my messages.
Maybe you should all drop me an e-mail so that I can have a really full inbox when I can get to it. (Actually, please do, I would be so excited to see so many unread messages!)
