27 Site

Just so you know.

I recently updated my "27" site. I added some links and changed the look a little. Here it is: http://27.harmlessonline.net

I also changed the address of my "27" occurrences blog. It is now http://27blog.harmlessonline.net I have surpassed 300 occurrences. There have been way more than that, but I have blogged over 300.

And if you are really interested, I added a brand new "27" submission page on the 27 site. I called it The Others (a 27 submission page). And you can check out the submissions by clicking here: The Others (the results are in). The results page is searchable and sortable. Please come by and submit some links soon. If you act quickly, you can be one of the first.

Happy Birthday to Google, who is celebrating its 9th birthday today, Sept. 27, 2007!

It would have to be on the 27th, wouldn't it...

occurrence 226

Occurrence 226 on this blog, came from the movie, V for Vendetta. In that movie, there are two 27 occurrences. The first comes from an inspector who says that he has been "...a party member for 27 years." Then later a newscaster states, "...a new airborne pathogen that has killed 27 people."

the number 23 27

I have been avoiding posting about this for quite some time. I didn't want to mention this number 23 movie out of my own annoyance. Oh sure, those who know me best know that I probably freaked out a little when I first saw the trailer for this movie. It's resemblance to my life (if you leave out the psychotic killer part) is uncanny. Unfortunately they got the number wrong.

The number to watch isn't 23, although 23 is a very interesting number. The real number to keep your eye on is the number 27. They probably wanted to make a movie about the number 27, but decided it was a little too real, so they picked the next best thing. The number 27 is always lurking there though. Even if you try to focus on another number.

Let me give you a for example... Let's say that you wanted to talk about the axial tilt of the earth. Some might point out the 23° that is associated with it, but according to Wikipedia, the axial tilt is 23° 27'.

Even looking at this 23 movie, consider this preview that I found which mysteriously stops at 0:27, even though the length of the clip is 0:28.

Maybe you have noticed the fact that the movie is coming out on 02/23/07. Kinda silly that they decided to premier this movie on the 23rd, but did you notice that if you just list the month and the year... 02/07... That's right, a 27 is right there, surrounding, engulfing the 23.

Which, by the way, I am in no way trying to promote the viewing of this movie. I have not seen it, so I cannot speak for its content. I just thought that I would point out their mistake in choosing the wrong number to make a movie about.

Anyway, here is another short preview of the movie, if you haven't seen it.

(Notice that the clip is 31 seconds long. What is the number that is exactly half way between 23 and 31? You guessed it.)

The 27's...

As many of you know, especially if you are one of my former students, I have this thing with the number 27. I don't really want to get into the origins of the 27 right now, I will have to save that for another day.

I would like to share this e-mail that I received the other day concerning the 27. I think that you might find it to be entertaining.

Your site describes almost the exact same set of events that my friends and I have been experiencing for about a year now. We are thoroughly amazed that another person has experienced this, let alone with the same number as us.

We have a wealth of photographic and written evidence, and one of us is also planning to do a short comedy film (The Curse Of 27) based around the number (and possibly a comic, called the Chronicle of 27)

The first incident occurred whilst purchasing sweets. When asked what the price of a Drumstick lolly, one of those present replied off-hand "27 p" for no reason. Upon inspecting the Drumsticks, to our surprise we discovered the price to be exactly 27 p.
At first this coincidence led us to believe the number was lucky, and we noticed in many different locations.

Eventually though, the sheer number of 27s we found led us to believe that 27 was perhaps not as positive a number as we had first believe. A prime example is a building one of us found with a huge 27 on the side. A week later, he attempted to show one of us to the building in question, only to find it demolished.

We await your response.

Found.

I have to thank Tim for this link:

I was a little disappointed in tonight's episode. No questions were answered, and there weren't any really new questions to ask. Which is usually my favorite part of the show; you know, answer a few questions and introduce enough new stuff to ask some more.

I will say that I am probably drawn to the show because of the 27 connection.

Every 108 minutes? Sure enough that is 27 minutes, 4 times.
